Terms of Service

The plain-language rules for using BQFlow, whether you're paying for lunch or running a counter.

1About BQFlow

BQFlow is a campus commerce platform. Students pay campus merchants from their phones, receive a digital credit with a QR code and 6-digit code, and merchants confirm that credit at the counter.

BQFlow is not a bank. Card and bank payments are processed by Paystack. We facilitate payments between students and merchants and keep the records.

By creating an account or using BQFlow you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

2Your account

  • Give us accurate details. You can sign up with an email address and phone number, or with Google.
  • At signup we send a one-time code to your email (and to your phone if you add one). Verifying either lets you in, and you can verify the other later in Account. A phone number is linked to an account only after it is verified, and can belong to one account only. After that you sign in with your email, username or phone number and your password, or with Google.
  • Passwords need at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter and one number. Keep yours private and don't share your account or your codes.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us quickly at support@bqflow.app if you think someone else has accessed it.
  • If you are under 18, use BQFlow only with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.

3Payments and fees

Students pay the listed price. We do not add fees to student payments for food and services.

Merchants pay a platform fee on each transaction. The standard fee is 2%; BQFlow may agree a different rate with a particular merchant, and will tell that merchant about it. Fees are deducted before funds become available to the merchant.

Payments run through Paystack and are also subject to Paystack's own terms. A payment is only complete once Paystack confirms it.

4Student wallet

You can fund a BQFlow wallet and use it to pay merchants, alone or together with a card payment. A part of your wallet may be held while a payment is in progress, and is released if the payment is abandoned or fails.

A wallet balance is not a bank deposit and does not earn interest.

5Credits and redemption

  • Each successful payment issues a digital credit with a QR code and a 6-digit code.
  • A credit can be used in full or in part at the merchant counter. What's left stays on the credit.
  • Your money is held until you collect. BQFlow holds your payment and releases it to the merchant when they redeem your credit, or, for made-to-order items, when they start preparing your order.
  • Credits expire 90 days after they are issued. When a credit expires, anything unused is returned to your BQFlow wallet.
  • You can return an unused credit to your wallet at any time while the merchant still holds your money. Once the merchant has been paid for work done on your order, that part is not refundable except as set out under Refunds and disputes.
  • Merchants may verify your name against the credit before handing over goods. Don't show or send your code to anyone you don't want to use it.
  • A credit tied to a specific order can only be used for that order.

6Orders and collection

Where a merchant offers ordering, they decide whether an item is paid for and collected, or made to order. Orders move through preparation and collection, and a merchant confirms collection by verifying your code. An order can be cancelled only while it is in a state that allows it; a cancelled order is returned to you as described in the next section.

7Refunds and disputes

If a problem comes up with an order, speak to the merchant first. If you cancel before preparation starts, or a credit is returned or expires while your money is still held, you get the full amount back in your BQFlow wallet. If a merchant cancels an order after they have started preparing it, you are refunded in full from the merchant.

Payment-gateway reversals depend on Paystack and your bank and can take time. BQFlow may help resolve disputes but is not obliged to, and decides at its own discretion using the records we hold (payment, redemption and timestamp logs).

8Terms for merchants

  • You must give accurate business and bank details, and keep your menu, prices and availability accurate.
  • You are responsible for your staff's use of BQFlow and for fulfilling every order that has been paid for.
  • When a student pays, the amount is shown as "on hold" in your wallet. It is released to you when you redeem the credit, or when you start preparing a made-to-order item. Released funds become available to withdraw once Paystack has settled the payment, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
  • You can withdraw available funds to your registered bank account, within the minimum, maximum and daily limits BQFlow sets. A bank transfer fee may be deducted from the payout. We may delay or hold a withdrawal to investigate suspected fraud, a dispute or a failed transfer.
  • If you cancel an order after starting to prepare it, the student is refunded in full from your balance.
  • Redeem a credit only when you hand over what the student paid for.

9What you must not do

  • Use BQFlow for anything illegal, including fraud or money laundering, or for transactions outside campus commerce.
  • Try to bypass, probe or break our security, or abuse OTP, login or payment flows.
  • Create accounts using someone else's details, or use credits you aren't entitled to.
  • Resell or transfer credits in ways we haven't allowed.

10Suspension and closing accounts

We may suspend or close an account, or hold funds, if we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, the law requires it, or the account puts others at risk. You can ask us to close your account at any time; we'll settle what you are owed first, unless we are legally required to hold it.

11Availability and liability

We work to keep BQFlow available, but we can't promise uninterrupted service. To the extent the law allows, BQFlow is not liable for losses caused by outages or failures of payment gateways, networks, mobile carriers or other third parties (including Paystack, Termii, Resend and Google), or by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as BQFlow grows. When we make a material change we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use BQFlow after a change means you accept it.

13Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
